G&T, and all for free, in the Isle of Harris Distillery! December 2022

On a cold, crisp, wintry day in December, the Isle of Harris Distillery threw open its doors for a free Open Day with an inviting warm peat fire, delicious gin tasting and mini-tour. How could I resist??
Our lovely hosts Sandy and Leonie, certainly know their trade. Both have extensive knowledge of the ingredients, the elements of the iconic bottle design and the distillation process.
Every single drop of distilled gin goes through the tiny still (on the right).
Incredible when you consider they made over 100,000 bottles this year!
Did you know that stamped into the bottom of the iconic, ergonomically designed bottle, is the founder Burr family's motif in Latin "Esse Quam Videri" and translates to "To be, rather than seem to be". I never knew that!
